The common peony is an herbaceous plant from the paeoniaceae family, native to France, Switzerland, and Italy. During the Middle-Ages, it was cultivated for its medicinal and magical virtues. In order to prevent nightmares, folks were making Paeonia officinalis’ seeds necklaces to wear at night.
